Antonio Jose Faria, age 68, of Linden, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, surrounded by love. He was a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Tony was born on December 8, 1957, in Salir do Porto, Portugal, to Ermelinda (Alves) Faria and Antonio Jose Faria. At the age of eleven, he immigrated to the United States with his family. Having immigrated from Portugal at a young age, sports like soccer and baseball became a universal language for him and Paul, his younger brother. Through the game, he built friendships and connections that transcended words and helped him feel at home in his new world.
He attended Linden High School and after graduation, Tony began his career working at Weinberg Electric in Linden, where he formed many lifelong friendships with his coworkers.
Tony was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and his love for spending time with family. Nothing brought him more joy than being with his four grandsons-Avery, Myles, Colin, and Lucas. He was their biggest cheerleader and was happiest when surrounded by their laughter. Whether sitting on the beach in Wildwood or Long Beach Island, Tony created some of his most treasured memories soaking up the sun and enjoying time with those he loved most. He had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and instantly part of the family.
Tony is predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Ermelinda Faria. Tony leaves behind his beloved children, his son Anthony Faria and his wife, Marlena as well as his daughter Lauren Carroll and her husband, Thomas. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Avery and Myles Faria, and Colin and Lucas Carroll. He is also survived by his loving brother, Paul Faria, and his wife, Joan, who held a special place in his heart.
Tony was a devoted uncle to his nephews, Nick Faria and his partner, Vicky, and their son, Leo; Christopher Faria and his wife, Cassidy, and their son, Reese; and his niece, Lindsay Faria. He touched their lives deeply with his kindness, friendship, and laughter.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Leonard & Smith Funeral Home (301 East Blancke Street, Linden NJ 07036). A funeral service will follow on Friday, June 26, 2026 beginning at 10:00AM at St. Elizabeth’s of Hungry Church (220 East Blancke Street, Linden NJ 07036). Entombment will take place immediately afterward at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery (53 Inman Avenue, Colonia, NJ 07067.)
Tony’s warmth, generosity, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have shared in his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause that Tony supported wholeheartedly.
