Barbara Anne Emerson (nee Ives), a long-time Elizabeth resident, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the age of 84.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leonard and Lee Funeral Home located at 301 E. Blancke Street Linden, NJ on Thursday, December 12th from 6-8 PM. The funeral will begin on Friday, December 13th in the funeral home at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Apostle Church Clark/Linden at 10 am, entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Newark.

Barbara was born in Elizabeth to the late Harry and Marie (Barry) Ives and spent most of her life there before moving to Linden, Rahway, and finally Morristown.

She was employed as a nurse at various places in Elizabeth (Elizabeth General Hospital, Office of Public Health, Board of Education) for many years before she retired in 2009.

Barbara graduated from the Helene Fuld School of Nursing. In 1998, she received her BS in Health Science for Jersey City State College, and in 2004 received her MS in Health Science.

She was a member of the Hibernian Club in Elizabeth, NJEA-NJ and AARP.

Barbara was a loving mother to Michael James Emerson and the late John Edward Emerson, as well as cherished grandmother to Michelle Emerson.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Serenity Hospice, Bordentown in her memory would be kindly appreciated.
