Obituary

Edward A. Albowicz, 74, a life-long Linden resident entered into eternal rest on Saturday July 27, 2024 with his family by his side. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Funeral from the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home 301 East Blancke Street Linden on Friday August 2nd at 9:45 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Elizabeth R.C. Church Linden 10:45am, Entombment St. Gertrude Cemetery Colonia. Visiting Hours are Thursday August 1st from 4pm – 8pm.

Edward was born to the late Stanley and Helen Kachmar Albowicz and graduated from Linden High School in 1968. Edward honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 –1971, where he was stationed in Morocco.

In his early years he worked at his Father and Uncle's Business, Alberto's Key Shop in Linden. After the Navy he worked for Big Top Contractors, first as a Machine Operator, then as co-owner with his brother-in-law Michael Sancilardi before retiring in 2018.

Ed was a member of American Legion Post 109 Rutherford, N.J. and also the DJ for the Big Top Crusiers Classic Car Club.

Edward was the beloved husband of the late Lucille Sancilardi Albowicz who died in 2007 and the loving father of Dominick Albowicz and his wife Laura and the late Edward J. Albowicz who died in 2020. Cherished brother of Elaine Dierolf and her husband Robert.  Loving grandfather to 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryan, Madelynn, Zachary and Mary. Loving companion of Margie Viespoli, devoted brother-in-law of Michael Sancilardi and his wife Geraldine, uncle of Marie Del Cristo, Michael Sancilardi Jr., Angela Sancilardi, Dominick Sancilardi, Kristen Panzino, and the late Robert Dierolf and Steven Dierolf. He was also predeceased by his Uncle Eddie and Aunt Mary Alberto.

Edward lived a life full of spontaneity and adventure.  He was always up for a drive down the shore where he loved spending time in the arcades with his grandchildren.  Edward loved to joke around and he always had everyone laughing, no matter where he was.
