Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Giuseppina Lettini Pietrapertosa, who peacefully left us on November 20, 2024. She was 90 years old.

Giuseppina was born in Genzano Di Lucania, Italy, and made the courageous decision to move to America in 1959 with her loving husband, Rocco Pietrapertosa and newborn son, Domenick Pietrapertosa. Here they had their daughter Mary Pietrapertosa Arnold, beginning a new chapter that would eventually become a beautiful and fulfilling life.

Throughout the years, she maintained a deep connection to her roots, often spending half the year in Italy and the other half in the United States. Her pride and joy were her family, and whether she was here or in Italy, she always found ways to share her love and devotion. When in the U.S., she would fondly speak of her nieces and nephews back in Italy, and during her time in Italy, her heart swelled with pride when talking about her grandchildren. Most recently, in 2018, she took a trip back to Italy to see her beloved sister, which was something that meant so much to her.

Her love for family extended to the kitchen, where she poured her heart into preparing delicious meals. No one will forget the amazing pasta Sundays with Nonna. She also prepared trays of food and pastries for every holiday, making dishes that no one could ever replicate, and she continued this until the end.

Giuseppina had an unyielding spirit. She was an active woman who loved to keep busy—cooking, traveling, shopping with her daughter, and playing cards were just a few of the things she did with passion. Her love for life extended to enjoying time with friends, especially at the casino, where they had many late fun nights. She also enjoyed staying connected with loved ones through her iPad, frequently browsing Facebook and delighting in seeing photos of family and friends near and far.

In her passing, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the countless memories she leaves behind. She was the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Giuseppina was the loving wife to the late Rocco Pietrapertosa who passed away in 2001. She was the loving mother to Domenick Pietrapertosa and his wife Karen and Mary Arnold and her late husband Richard. Dear sister to Lena Lettini Pietrapertosa and the late Anthony Lettini, Mary Marchione and Domenico Lettini. Cherished grandmother to Annalisa Sangiovanni and her husband John, Richie Rocco Arnold and his wife Lauren, Michelle Ensimann and her husband Taylor, Nicole Pietrapertosa and Kyle Pietrapertosa. Great-grandmother to Vienna, Aria, Arielle, Cora, Olivia and Amelia

Relatives and friends are invited to gather and celebrate her life on Friday, November 22, 2024 in the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home 301 E. Blancke Street, Linden from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Saturday the funeral will begin in the funeral home at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Elizabeth Church Linden at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
