Gloria
Nisky
November 20, 1927 – December 22, 2022
Gloria Prudente Nisky, 95, of Linden, entered eternal rest on December 22, 2022, after living a very long and fruitful life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home, 301 E. Blancke Street, Linden, on Friday, December 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1:00 pm at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 220 E. Blancke Street. Entombment to follow, Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union, NJ.
Ms. Nisky was born and raised in Jersey City and moved to Linden in 1962. She was formerly employed as a waitress at the Edgar Road Diner for 20 years and at the Grill Restaurant for 15 years.
Gloria was a secretary and active member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 913 in Linden, a volunteer at the Linden Retired Men's Club, and an AARP Chapter 1894 member. She also volunteered at St. Elizabeth Church with the Pre-Cana Program. A proud moment that she cherished was in 2018 when the City of Linden honored Gloria as the Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year for her service to the community and a member of Ferguson Towers Senior's Club. Gloria also enjoyed her yearly modeling at the Generations in Style Fashion Show and her frequent excursions to Atlantic City, that allowed her to dress up, another attribute for which she was known. She was also a fervent New York Yankees fan.
Gloria was known for her baking, her cheesecake, pistachio cake, carrot cake, strawberry shortcake; and her cream puffs were famous among her friends and family. Her handwritten recipes, while already well-distributed to her loved ones and friends, will be available at her memorial service.
Gloria was the beloved wife of the late John Nisky (1996) and was also predeceased by her son, Thomas Santora, Sr; and her beloved and devoted companion, Edward Jones. She is survived by her grandsons, Thomas Santora, Jr., and his wife, Whitney, of Louisiana; Michael Santora, and his wife, Kim, of New York; her nieces, Cheryl Daniels, of Hawaii; and Nancy Mullins, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Fords; and her nephew, Donald Sweeney, and his wife, Joanne, of Cranford.
