Id Delia "Chica" Rodriguez, 88, of Linden, NJ, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Chica was born on April 13, 1936, in Placetas, Cuba, and moved to Linden in November of 1968 with her husband, Anacleto "Cleto", and two children, Rolando and Milagros. She was a strong woman with venerable traits that she passed down to her children and grandchildren. It is because of her that her family was— and still is—fortunate enough to live the "American Dream." She took pride in being a "guajira" from the countryside, never forgetting her humble beginnings. Chica instilled in her family the values of hard work, punctuality, perseverance, and the ability to see the bigger picture, always focusing on what truly matters.

Chica loved her family and friends, moving hastily, trips to the casino, her favorite show "Caso Cerrado", gardening, chismeando, and Cuban superstitions.

Chica was predeceased by her parents Moises and Elba, husband Cleto, and her sister, Coco. She is survived by her siblings, Lila and Luis; her children, Rolando (Esperanza) Rodriguez, and Milagros (Dwayne) Omar; grandchildren, Maria (Juan Carlos), Gigi, Rolandito, Ricardo, Giselle; her great grandson, Sebastian; and many cousins, relatives, and family friends.

Chica was the matriarch of the family, and will be deeply missed. There will be no replacing her frijoles, carne de puerco, buñuelos, papas rellenas, chicharitas, picadillo, and fricase de pollo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.

Chica nació el 13 de Abril de 1936 en Placetas, Cuba, y se mudó a Linden en Noviembre de 1968 con su esposo, Anacleto, y sus dos hijos, Rolando y Milagros. Fue una mujer fuerte con cualidades venerables que transmitió a sus hijos y nietos. Es gracias a ella que su familia fue—y sigue siendo—lo suficientemente afortunada como para vivir el "Sueño Americano". Se sientia orgullosa de ser "guajira", sin olvidar nunca sus humildes comienzos. Chica inculcó en su familia los valores del trabajar duro, la puntualidad, la perseverancia y la capacidad de ver el mundo de la mejor manera, siempre enfocándose en lo que realmente importa.

Chica amaba a su familia y amigos, moverse rápidamente, los viajes al casino, Caso Cerrado, la jardinería, chismear, y las supersticiones Cubanas.

Chica fue precedida en muerte por sus padres, su esposo, y su hermana, Coco. Le sobreviven sus hijos, Rolando (Esperanza) y Milagros (Dwayne); sus nietos, María (Juan Carlos), Gigi, Rolandito, Ricardo, Giselle; su bisnieto, Sebastián; sus hermanos, Lila y Luis; y muchos primos y familiares.

Chica fue la matriarca de la familia y será profundamente extrañada. No habrá reemplazo para sus frijoles, carne de puerco, buñuelos, papas rellenas, chicharitas, picadillo y fricasé de pollo.

En lugar de flores, la familia solicita donaciones a la Sociedad Americana del Cáncer.
