Obituary

Ms. Julia Brazil Hayes (Stoute), of Linden, New Jersey, entered into eternal rest on November 28th, 2023, at the Regency Jewish Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation center in Somerset, NJ surrounded by her loving family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing and funeral services on Monday, December 11th from 10am-11:30am (viewing) with service to immediately follow from 11:30am – 1pm at the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home located at 301 E. Blancke St. in Linden, NJ. Interment to follow immediately at Graceland Cemetery – 1900 Galloping Hill Rd, Kenilworth, NJ 07033.

Julia was born on August 4th or 5th 1931 at the family home in Roselle, NJ, to the late Redmond and Mary Magdalene (Sizemore) Brazil. She was one of nine children and the second youngest daughter. She lived the early part of her life in Roselle where she attended Abraham Clark High School. After school, she raised her three children Linda, Charlotte, and Gregory – all who she loved dearly. While raising her children, she performed many jobs including being a home-maker. She then moved to Linden with her daughter Charlotte and late son in law Earl Holland where she continued her life's passion in nurturing and mentoring her family. Julia was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Roselle, First Baptist Church in Linden and the Cathedral International in Perth Amboy. She was a gifted singer and a member of the church choir.

Julia was a loving mother to her daughter Linda (Hayes) Wellons and son-in-law Adolphus "Doc" Wellons; daughter Charlotte (Hayes) Holland and late son-in-law Earl Holland; son Conrad Gregory Hayes and daughter-in-law Maranda Hayes. Grandmother to her nine grandchildren: Mark Drew, Douglas Wellons, Michael Wellons, Dana Holland, Maurice Hayes, Stephanie Hayes, Christine (Hayes) Smith, Anthony Holland, and Jordan Holland. Great Grandmother to Martina Drew, Justin Wellons, Jillian Drew, Claire Wellons, Lilliana Wellons, Juliana Holland, Ava Holland, Kamren Smith, and Savannah Baldwin.

Julia is survived by her siblings James Brazil (Barbara) and Lillian Crawley (Carlton) and predeceased by siblings Ethel (Brazil) Lassiter, Samuel Brazil, John Brazil, William Brazil, Hazel Kelsey Bagley, and Robert Brazil.
