Marie E. Russell

Marie Russell, 107, of Mountainside, NJ entered eternal peace on Thursday, May 29, 2025.

Marie was born in Scranton, PA, and resided in Linden for many years before moving to Oceanport, NJ, and then to Mountainside, NJ. Marie was a longtime resident of Linden and a business proprietor of Russell's Photography Studio, Bridal Gowns, and Tuxedos with her husband, Alexander J. Russell, her husband of 62 years who predeceased her in 2002. The business began in the mid 1950s and remained a fixture in Linden for more than 7 decades.

Marie was active in Linden, New Jersey activities, including supporting the Linden Debutante Ball and assisted in providing gowns for all the debutants for several decades. Russell Studios was well known as a photographer for Linden High School and for many other organizations throughout the county.

Marie was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Rosalie Markiewicz and her son, Bruce A. Russell of Oceanport, NJ. Surviving Marie is her daughter, Cheryl M. Kress and her husband, Richard H. Kress, her daughter-in-law, Patricia Van Bergen Russell and Marie's son, Kenneth M. Russell. Marie leaves six grandchildren, Nicole Kress Sweeney and her husband Patrick, Stephen Kress, Kimberly Russell McGowan, and her husband, Vincent, Tricia Russell-Vohden and her husband Ceddie Vohden, Bryan Russell, and Kevin Russell and his wife Rachel. Marie also leaves nine great grandchildren, Declan, Kieran, and Nieve Sweeney, Beau Kress, Sydney, Mallory, and Reilly McGowan and Charlotte and Morgan Russell.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home, 301 East Blancke St., Linden, NJ 07036. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 4:30 PM

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in memory of Marie to the St. Joseph Social Service Center in Marie's name at SJELIZ.ORG.
