Peter Anthony Lima, age 64, of Linden, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025. As we remember Pete, take a moment to smile and think of the fun, thoughtful, and genuine soul he was—and the full, loving life he lived.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1960, Pete moved to Linden in 1971, where he would ultimately plant deep roots. He proudly served in the U.S. Army with the 557th Medical Group, stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany (1983-1988). Following his Honorable Discharge, he returned to Linden and remained a dedicated resident for the next 37 years. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with Wakefern Food Corporation in Elizabeth and Jamesburg, retiring in 2014.

Pete was the devoted husband of Joanne (Sausnock) for 41 years and the proud father of Jaclyn Suzanne Lima and Peter Daniel Lima, his wife Laura, and the adoring grandfather of granddaughters Brooke and Holly.

He was predeceased by his parents, Helen & Antonio "Tony" Lima and sister Joanne Collins. He is survived by his sisters Ginny Otley and Nancy Ferrara; brothers-in-law David Otley, Tim Collins, and Michael Ferrara as well as many nieces and nephews located across the country.

Pete lived a life rich in relationships. Friends often became family and he never missed a chance to sit, catch up, and share a laugh. He loved traveling, live music with a horn section, scenic drives, and loyally cheered on the ever-disappointing New York Jets.

He was blessed to receive the expert care of Dr. Dennis Lowenthal and the compassionate team at the Carol G. Simon Outpatient Cancer Center at Overlook Medical Center, Summit, NJ, whose dedication gave Pete many meaningful years.  Pete was also a passionate advocate for the Hydrocephalus Association in support of his granddaughter Holly. Contributions in his honor can be made to the Jersey Shore Walk to End Hydrocephalus.
