Robert F. Bunk, born 2/6/1935 passed away peacefully at home on 8/3/25 at the age of 90. Robert was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Lorraine J. Bunk, Julia Bunk (Szoldra) mother, Stanley J Bunk, father, Stanley J Bunk, Jr, brother. Robert is survived by his four children, Kathyann Furman, Lenore Price (Richard), Robert M. Bunk (Pamela), Susan Ritacco. Robert is also survived by his loving sister, Caroline Sunderlin and sister in law, Betty Ann Bunk. Robert, affectionately known as Poppy is also survived by the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Jennifer M. Barbato (Steve), Jacqueline Barbosa (Chris), Richard K. Price (Leslie), Angela Bunk, Bobby Bunk, Frank Ritacco (Liz), Gina Sicilia (Joe), Juli Ritacco along with his great grand children Emily Grace Barbato, Nicholas Giovanni Barbato, Marina Jane Ritacco and yet to be born and loved just as much, Casimiro Barbosa. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews who he loved just as much. Robert and Lorraine both also loved their great neighbors Mary and Sam Watson and their family.
Robert served 4 years in the Navy Reserves and worked at Vector Engineering, Stavid Engineering and NJE Corp building power supplies before becoming a Po!ice Officer for the City of Linden and retiring as a Detective. He served as a Third Ward Councilman from 92 - 95, Council President 96 - 2013, MOD Club Member, Past President of Local 42, Past Secretary PBA Local 42, Negotiating Committee for the City of Linden and many other committees for the City of Linden. He was also a member of the Knights of Co!umbus, received 200 C!ub Award for Police Officers and Firemen of UC for saving the life of a husband and wife in their burning home. He, along with several other officers, received an award for capturing a Bank Robber. Finally, up until the time of his passing, he worked for The Linden NJ Police & Firemen's Federal Credit Union for over 35 years as the Treasurer.
Robert loved many things: stopping at his favorite Deli for lottery tickets and conversation, going to Atlantic City and playing the slot machines, watching the NY Yankees, Game shows on tv and family gatherings. He Loved The City of Linden, the LPD and The LFD. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.
Private services were held under the direction of the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home, Linden, NJ as requested by the family.
