Roger A
Brown
November 10, 1930 – May 9, 2024
Roger A. Brown, 93, of Linden, NJ entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, May 12, 2024 from 2pm to 6pm in the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home, 301 E. Blancke Street Linden. A Funeral Service will be held Monday in the funeral home at 10am followed by the Interment in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
Roger was born on November 10th, 1930. Raised in Rahway by his loving parents Leroy and Mina (Danner) Brown alongside his late sister Hazel Barnhart. He lived in Woodbridge before moving to Linden 74 years ago. In the 1950's he met the love of his life Katherine (Christel) Brown who he cherished for the next 55 years until her passing in 2012.
Roger enlisted into the US Navy and was a Korean War Veteran serving on the USS Grand Canyon. Once he completed his service, he worked as a Lineman with Central Railroad of Jersey/NJ Transit where he retired after forty years of service. This is where he gained his passion for the railroad and became an avid railroad memorabilia collector. He continued his love for antiques and began working with Sheldon Halper at the Cobweb and Richard Nixon at Washington Rock Rare Coins in Cranford, NJ. Along with proudly displaying his collections, he loved to cheer on his favorite teams, the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Rangers. Enjoyed by both, were train rides, trips to the beach and his famous 'laundry basket rides' with his grand and great grandchildren.
Roger Browns departure leaves a void that can never be filled. His memories will never be forgotten by his loved ones and forever remain in their hearts. He is survived by his son Jeffrey Brown, daughter Virginia Sturdivant and her husband Jeffrey. His grandchildren Jessica Pena and her husband Joel, Jaclyn Robinson and her husband Denzel, Megan Squier and her husband Barry, Michael Brown and his wife Danielle, Katelyn Logue and her fiancé Nate Moore, Catherine Brown and her boyfriend David Streciwibk, Courtney Sturdivant, Noah Brown, and Ella Brown. Great-grandfather to Dakota Logue, Sterling Robinson and Lucy Squier. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
