Rosemarie A
Mccabe
November 2, 1943 – April 5, 2025
Rosemarie Anne McCabe, beloved sister, aunt, godmother, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of warmth, wit, and quiet brilliance.
Born in Carrickmacross, Ireland, on November 2, 1943, Rosemarie emigrated to the United States with her family at the tender age of six. She embraced her new home with the same grace and curiosity that would come to define her life.
A gifted mathematician and educator, Rosemarie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Newark Teachers College and a Masters of Arts from Kean University. She went on to share her love of numbers as a teacher and mentor, often helping others find confidence and joy in subjects they once feared. Beyond the classroom, she contributed to the field as both an editor of mathematics textbooks and a writer of curriculum, shaping the way countless students and educators engaged with math.
To those who knew and loved her, Rosemarie was much more than a teacher—she was a confidant, a steady presence, and a trusted soul. She was loving and kind, wonderful to be around, and deeply generous with her time and attention. No matter the moment, she made you feel like the most important person in the room. She nurtured deep and lasting relationships with her family and countless friends, each of whom was touched by her thoughtfulness and her keen sense of humor.
Rosemarie had a lifelong passion for books, travel, art, and the pleasures of great food and wine. Nowhere was this more evident than in her beloved Wine Wednesday—a summer tradition that brought together delicious meals, fine wines, and the kind of laughter that only comes with the joy of gathering with those you love. She approached life with curiosity and appreciation, always ready for a spirited conversation or a spontaneous adventure.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she graced.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Center for Hope Hospice.
