Roy G. "Judd" Herman, 85, a lifelong Linden resident entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. He was born on May 1, 1938 to the late Joseph and Jesse Rose Montgomery Herman in Elizabeth, NJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 9:30 am from the Leonard-Lee Funeral Home 301 E. Blancke Street Linden. The Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Elizabeth Church Linden at 10:30 am. Final disposition will be private. Visiting hours are on Monday from 4 to 7pm.
Roy was a graduate of Linden High School where he was on the football team that was inducted into the Linden High School Athletic Hall of Fame that won the 1954 and 1955 State Championships Group 4.
Roy was an avid fisherman and boater especially with the family boats "2nd Hand Rose" and "the Colleen". He was also interested in restoring antique cars and rebuilt a 1968 Camaro. He was an avid Mets, Old Brooklyn Dodger's and Jets Fan. He really enjoyed Memorable Vacations in Diamond Beach New Jersey for countless summers with family and friends. Roy also went on a spiritual trip in 2002 after the death of his son Matthew to Notre Dame with his dear friend Eddie Colton and it really meant a lot to him.
He was employed as a Machinist 1st Class for the Rahway Valley Sewage Association for 25 years before he retired in 2011. Previously he was a Machinist 1st class for Reynolds Metals Co, In Carteret for 14 years.
Most important he loved and cherished his family and was very grateful for all God's Blessing through out his life, he was dearly loved by all and with great sadness will be missed.
Roy was the loving husband of 63 years to Margaret (Marge) E. Kimak Herman. Loving father to Russell Herman, Colleen McNicholas and her husband Edward and the late Matthew who passed away in 2002. Dear brother to the late Alice Carl. Cherished grandfather to Blaise McNicholas, Quinn Willem, Lacey McNicholas and Kaitlyn Herman. Great-grandfather to Gunnar Matthew Willem and Emerald Rose Willem. He was predeceased by a nephew Charles Bradley.
In lieu of flowers donations for Prayers and Mass Cards to the church of your choice in his memory would be appreciated.
